The Story of Lydia
The Story of Lydia was inspired by a true story which took place in Denmark beginning in the 1920’s. It is about a young Danish woman who gave up all her worldly possessions and went on an amazing journey that took her to the city of Jerusalem, which at the time was considered a far away place in a distant and foreign land. In Jerusalem she started the first orphanage for Jewish and Arabic children and during her years in Jerusalem she adopted 8 of the children as her very own. But the story doesn’t begin there.
It starts when Lydia makes a commitment to fight for her religious right, ultimately salvaging her illustrious career as a school teacher and paving the way for religious freedom in Denmark. The story tells of Lydia’s struggle and coming to grips with leaving her widowed mother and family behind to start a new life. In the process she gives away her inheritance to those in need and sets out on a very colorful adventure. Lydia arrives in Jerusalem in December of 1927, and no sooner than getting settled, she is charged with the responsibility of an infant child. The child, Talitha, is on her death bed! But Lydia nurtures her back to health and becomes a mother figure to her. Within a year the father returns to claim his daughter - a ploy for him and a disastrous set back for little Talitha. Within months Talitha finds her way back to Lydia and eventually becomes the first of her many adopted children.
The movie was produced in HD (High Definition). This animated special has been created in the style of a musical fairytale, and is expected to appeal to the young, and young at heart.
